Change in CEO
The company announced on 19 February 2007 that Dennis Polak who has been
the CEO for the past 10 years, would be retiring from this position at the
end of 2007.
The company further announced the appointment of Simon Bowley as Group CEO
designate. At the same time, Doug Murray was appointed as Group MD
designate.
Simon has subsequently decided for personal reasons not to accept the
position as Group CEO designate.
The group is pleased to announce the appointment of Doug Murray as Group
CEO designate with immediate effect. Doug has been with the group for 22
years, the past 8 as Retail Director.
Doug and Dennis will over the next few months begin adjusting their roles
to accommodate a seamless change in leadership on 1 January 2008.
This appointment has received the unanimous approval of the Nominations
Committee and the Board.
