Anglo American (South Africa): Demerger of Mondi
Treatment In FTSE/JSE Africa Index Series
25 June 2007
In accordance with the proposed demerger of Mondi Group from Anglo American
(South Africa), the following timetable is expected to be followed for
processing the changes to the FTSE/JSE Africa Index Series:
Friday 29th June 2007 (after close)
FTSE and the JSE will determine the market capitalisation of Mondi Group
using the closing price of Anglo American.
Mondi Ltd and Mondi Plc will be added to all the indices that Anglo
American is a constituent of as per FTSE/JSE ground rule 6.2.4.
Monday 2 July 2007 (from start of trading)
Anglo American consolidated share commences trading (ex entitlement to the
demerger)
Mondi Ltd and Mondi Plc commence trading.
Please note: The affected derivative indices will not have the normal fixed
number of companies e.g. the FTSE/JSE Top 40 index will have 43 lines.
Monday 2 July 2007 (after close)
FTSE and JSE will issue a notice detailing the index changes resulting from
the demerger (using prices at the close).
Wednesday 4 July 2007 (from start of trading)
Mondi Plc being an inward listing will be removed from the FTSE/JSE indices
due to its ineligibility as per Ground Rule 4.1.1.The inclusion of Mondi
Ltd into other indices will be based on the market capitalisation of the
Mondi Group at the close of business on Monday 2 July 2007. All other index
changes as detailed in the 2 July 2007 FTSE/JSE notice become effective
(i.e. applied after JSE close on 3 July 2007)
