TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, companies are required to
publish a trading statement as soon as they are reasonably certain that the
financial results for the current reporting period will be more than 20%
different than those of the previous corresponding period.
As a result of the above, Comair`s shareholders are informed that, for the year
ended 30 June 2007, Comair`s headline earnings per share and earnings per share
are expected to be between 20% to 40% higher than those of the prior
corresponding period. Shareholders are cautioned though, that unprofitable
ticket pricing by the state subsidised SAA, through its new subsidiary, Mango,
negatively affected industry profits in the fourth quarter of the financial year
ended 30 June 2007, and may also impact future results.
The current high crude oil price, if sustained, could also have an impact on
future earnings, however, fuel cost increases will be mitigated by the progress
made with the Company`s fleet upgrade program. Three new aircraft were brought
into service for use on the kulula.com brand during the financial year ended 30
June 2007, and all of the older, fuel inefficient MD82 aircraft are expected to
be replaced by the end of the year.
The above information has not been reviewed or reported on by the company`s
auditors. The company`s annual results for the year ended 30 June 2007 are
expected to be published on or about 12 September 2007.
