LEGAL STRIKE - CONSOLIDATED MURCHISON MINE
Shareholders and the public are advised that management and labour at
Consolidated Murchison Mine in Limpopo Province have been negotiating wage
increases over past month.
Labour has demanded wage increases of between 30% - 50% and management has
offered between 10% - 12%. Negotiations so far have not been successful in
bridging the gap.
The discussions were referred to the CCMA which authorised a legal strike.
Representatives of labour subsequently gave notice of strike action, having
given 48 hours notice.
The labour force came out on strike on the evening of 20 August 2007. Management
continues to negotiate a resolution to this situation as a matter of priority
and is engaged in ongoing discussions with Union representatives.
Essential services have not been interrupted.
