Appointment of director
In compliance with section 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited,
Simmers announces that Mr. E.A.Meyer will join the board of directors with
effect from 1 October 2007 as an independent non-executive director.
Mr. Meyer is President and CEO of Cidel Bank & Trust Inc., the largest privately
owned bank and trust company in Barbados. He qualified as a chartered accountant
in Johannesburg in 1985, before moving to Toronto, Canada, where he began a
career in banking and funds management, before eventually moving to Barbados,
where he co-founded Cidel Bank & Trust Inc. in 1998. He is currently a director
of CIC Energy Corporation, a TSX-listed company with coal and energy interests
in Botswana, and serves on its audit committee. He also served on the board of
TSX-listed Afriore prior to its takeover and de-listing, and was chairman of its
audit committee for three years.
"Adrian Meyer will bring to the Simmers board a great deal of direct experience
of North American financial markets", said Simmers chairman Nigel Brunette. "He
is also an entrepreneur with a successful track record, and we believe he has
much to contribute to the board in its efforts to ensure that the growth of the
company continues."
