September 18, 2007, Vancouver, B.C. - Great Basin Gold Ltd. ("Great Basin Gold"
or the "Company") (TSX: GBG; AMEX: GBN; JSE: GBG) announces that the Company has
been included in the new S&P/TSX Global Mining Index launched on June 12, 2007,
as part of a group of top-tier global mining companies which comprise this
investable representative index of publicly traded international mining
companies. The new index will offer investors wide exposure to the world`s
mining markets and to Great Basin Gold. This is effective as of Monday,
September 24, 2007.
Great Basin Gold was also newly added to the S&P/TSX Global Gold Index,
effective at the open on Monday, June 18, 2007.
Great Basin Gold has two advanced stage gold projects in two of the world`s best
gold environments: the Burnstone Project in South Africa`s Witwatersrand
Goldfield, and the Hollister Project on the Carlin Trend in Nevada, USA.
