CHANGES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
In compliance with section 3.59 to 3.62 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Limited, shareholders are advised of that with effect from 1 October 2007:
- George Aliferis has been appointed as an executive director to the board of
Celcom Group - After studying at the Gordon Flack Davidson Academy of
Design, George enjoyed a career in the fashion industry. Highlights
included becoming a partner of M.O.B, one of the largest agencies in the
country, heading up the launch of Ellesse, a leading international brand
and being responsible for the ongoing maintenance of this brand and being
appointed Vice President of FUBU South Africa. During this period George
moved into the food industry, opening one of Johannesburg`s top new
restaurants, George`s on 4th in 1999. In 2001 George further expanded his
portfolio of interests by entering the telecommunications industry. He
began with the acquisition of a leading Vodashop outlet and grew this group
to several stores prior to merging these with the Celcom Group in 2006;
- Heather Sonn has been appointed as a non-executive director to the board of
Celcom Group - Heather has over nine year`s experience in financial
services. She worked for Merrill Lynch in New York as an investment banker
in global branded consumer goods and leveraged buy-outs from 1997 to 1999.
On her return to South Africa she joined Sanlam Investment Management, then
known as Gensec Asset Management. Heather was previously CEO of Legae
Securities of which Wipcapital (Proprietary) Limited ("Wipcapital"), the
operating company of Wiphold Group Limited, owns 49%, and most recently
held the position of Deputy CEO of Wipcapital. She serves on the Boards of
Strate, Macsteel, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, the
Nelson Mandela Investment and Endowment Committee, the FSB Collective
Investment Schemes sub-committee, and is the President of South African
Association of Investors, an NGO focused on investment and financial market
education;
- Shiraz Mukaddam has been appointed as non-executive director to the board
of Celcom Group - After completing his legal degree and articles, Shiraz
entered the Telecommunications sector and joined Vodacom in June of 1994.
He served as a Legal Advisor and later as a Regulatory Advisor to the
Vodacom Group where his scope included regulations covering all aspects of
the company`s business under its cellular licence. In 2001, he joined
Cointel (Pty) Ltd, a leading m-commerce solutions and telecommunications
value-added services provider where he became Chief Operating Officer.
Shiraz currently serves as Executive Director of Transcription Africa (Pty)
Ltd, a technology company delivering specialised solutions in the language
services industry. He is Chief Executive of Upstream Solutions,
specialising in niche management consulting, business processes
reengineering and advisory services; and
- Franklin Sonn has resigned as non-executive director to the board of Celcom
Group.
