TRADING UPDATE
In terms of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, companies are required to
publish a trading statement as soon as they are reasonably certain that the
financial results for the current reporting period will be more than 20%
different than that of the previous corresponding period. Lewis is in the
process of finalising its results for the six months ended 30 September 2007 and
has decided to issue a voluntary trading update.
Revenue for the six months ended 30 September 2007 is expected to be 11% higher
when compared to the corresponding period. Operating profit margin is expected
to be slightly higher than the 23.9% achieved in the corresponding period.
Headline earnings per share are expected to be up between 9.5% and 11.5% and
earnings per share between 11.5% and 13.5% up on the corresponding period.
The debtors book remains in a satisfactory condition with no material
deterioration in bad debt provisions. The Bad Debt provision reflects a 6%
increase since 30 September 2006. Actual bad debts written off are at a similar
level to September 2006.
The above information has not been reviewed or reported on by the Company`s
external auditors.
The Company`s results for the six months ended 30 September 2007 are expected to
be published on SENS on or about 12 November 2007.
