CHANGES TO THE BOARD OF BASIL READ
In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, the
following information is disclosed:
The Board of Basil Read is pleased to announce that Ms. Ntombekaya Yvonne
September has been appointed as a Non-executive Director of the company with
effect from 23 October 2007.
Ms. September currently holds the position of Non-Executive Director and
Chairman in one of Basil Read`s subsidiaries namely Newport Construction (Pty)
Limited for the past 3 years, and has shown exceptional ability. The company
wishes her all the best in her new role.
Ms. September`s career spanned various organizations namely Development Bank of
Southern Africa as Project Leader on Urban Development Projects, City of
Johannesburg, responsible for provision of services to underdeveloped areas,
Building Industries Federation of Southern Africa as Strategic Development
Manager, Basil Read (Pty) Limited, as Commercial Manager, to develop the Cosmo
City housing concept during the 4 year period 1997 to 2001, European Commission
as Program Manager for EC funded projects, lecturing at Georgia State University
in Development Economics, and involved now in her own Consulting business
advising various international organizations on donor funded small business
development programmes. Ms. September also holds a degree in Development
Studies from RAU now (University of Johannesburg).
The composition of the Basil Read board, following this appointment, is as
follows:
