COMMERCIAL BANK OF CHINA LIMITED ("ICBC")
Further to the announcement dated 25 October, 2007, we are pleased to
inform you that a senior delegation from ICBC will be travelling to South
Africa during November.
Standard Bank and ICBC would like to invite you to an investor presentation
in Cape Town on Friday, 23 November, 2007.
Jacko Maree, Chief Executive of Standard Bank and Chairman Jiang Jianqing
of ICBC will expand on the strategic rationale of the proposed transaction
including more information on the strategic co-operation agreement,
following ongoing negotiations.

The presentation will be broadcast live on Summit TV together with a
conference call and a live webcast on our website, details of which will be
communicated in due course.
A scheme document will be available on or about 15 November, 2007, which
