CHANGE TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
In accordance with section 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Limited, shareholders are advised that Mercantile had received notice on 4
December 2007 that Mr A M Osman, one of the non-executive directors resigned
with effect from 21 November 2007. This follows his resignation as the
Chairman of BCI Fomento a bank in Mozambique, which is also subsidiary of
Caxia Geral de Depositos S.A, the major shareholder of Mercantile.
