TRADING UPDATE
Shareholders are advised that management~s expectation for the company~s
earnings for the six months ended 31 December 2007 compared with those of the
prior comparative period, are as follows:
EBITDA between R500 million and R600 million (31 December 2006 - R317 million).
Basic earnings between 75 cps and 90 cps (31 December 2006 - 51 cps).
Headline earnings between 50 cps and 60 cps (31 December 2006 - 51 cps).
Weighted average number of shares in issue increased by 14% to 335 million from
295 million.
Shareholders are advised that the EBITDA includes a profit on the reverse
acquisition of Pan African Resources plc of R157 million, and that the
comparative figures to 31 December 2006 included EBITDA of R38 million and
headline earnings of 3.3 cps from the Wakefield Coal Group, which was disposed
of in June 2007.
The financial information for the period ended 31 December 2007 has not been
reviewed or reported on by the Company~s auditors. It is anticipated that the
results for the period ended 31 December 2007 will be published on 21 February
2008.
