ROBERT J. GAYTON APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR OF EASTPLATS
Mr. Ian Rozier, President and CEO of Eastern Platinum Limited ("Eastplats" or
the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert J. Gayton as
a director of Eastplats.
Dr. Gayton, 68, has a B. Comm. from the University of BC (1962) and a Ph.D. in
Business from the University of California, Berkeley (1973). He is a Fellow of
the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (1979) and a Fellow of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC (1994). He formerly served on the
boards of Bema Gold, Western Silver Corporation and Northern Orion Resources
Inc. He also acted as V.P. Finance for numerous other companies in the resource
sector including Noramco Mining, Prime Resources and Western Silver. Currently,
Dr. Gayton holds directorships in Intrinsyc Software Inc., Amerigo Resources
Ltd. and Nevsun Resources Ltd. At Eastplats Dr. Gayton will act as Chairman of
the Audit Committee and member of the Corporate Governance Committee. His
qualifications and experience, gained from a very successful career with
Canadian public companies, will be of enormous benefit to the Company going
forward.
There are no further disclosures required under Schedule 2 paragraph (g) of the
AIM Rules.
The Company also wishes to report that Mr. Johannes `Danie` Spies has now
assumed his duties as General Manager at the Crocodile River Mine (see news
release dated December 6th, 2007) and leads a growing team of mine, process and
planning personnel at the operation where several mine expansions and new
projects are underway.
"Eastplats has grown fast and will continue to do so both through development of
the very large resource base in our existing projects as well as by
acquisitions", stated Ian Rozier.
"This growth has been accomplished through the combination of an excellent
management, operating and development teams in South Africa and Canada. The
recent appointments further underpin the aggressive growth plan of the Company
going forward", he stated.
