TRAMMING OPERATIONS RESUME AT BUFFELSFONTEIN GOLD MINE
Tramming operations have resumed at Simmer& Jack`s Buffelsfontein Mine in the
North West Province, following a locomotive accident which claimed the life of
one mineworker on Sunday 09 March 2008.
As a result of the incident, which took place at the mine`s Number Two shaft,
all tramming was stopped, pending an investigation.
According to Deon van der Mescht, the chief operating officer, tramming resumed
at 22h00 on Monday 10 March 2008, allowing the mine to resume loading and
transporting of underground ore.
