COMPETITION TRIBUNAL APPROVES JOHNNIC AND NEW AFRICA PUBLISHING MERGER
The Competition Tribunal has today,2 July 2004,unconditionally approved the
merger transaction between Johnnic Publishing Ltd and New Africa Publishing Ltd
Background
Johnnic Publishing Limited (Johnnic), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Johnnic
Communications Ltd (Johncom), listed on the JSE, intends acquiring New Africa
Publications Limited (NAP). NAP is 90/5% owned by New African Media Holdings
(Pty) Ltd (NAM) which in turn is wholly owned by New Africa Investments Limited
(NAIL), an empowerment company listed on the JSE. Johnnic Publishing is
acquiring 90.5% of the issued share capital of NAP.
