Board Appointment
`Michael McMahon agrees to join Central Rand Gold as Non Executive Director`
Central Rand Gold Limited, the gold exploration and development company,is
pleased to announce the appointment of John Michael McMahon, as a non-executive
director of the Company as from 29 April 2008, subject to formal board approval
at the next full board meeting on that day in Guernsey.
Mr McMahon, aged 61, is a leading South African based mine development engineer,
with an established track record of asset development, having worked in a
variety of management roles and, latterly, at Board level in a number of major
international mining companies.
Michael joins CRG at a critical time, as the Company anticipates the granting of
its mining licence later this year, ahead of first production from CRG`s
portfolio, scheduled for 2009.
Michael has been a non-executive director of Gold Fields Limited since December
1999 and serves as non-executive director of Impala Platinum Holdings Limited
and Murray & Roberts Holdings Limited. Previously, he was chief executive of
Impala Platinum Holdings Limited from 1990 and executive chairman from 1993
through to 1998, He was an executive director of Gencor Limited from 1993 and
executive chairman from 1997 through to 2002

board meeting on April 29.

in the South African mining industry with long and successful direct experience
in gold and platinum production. Michael will remain on the Gold Fields board
for the present time.

company a person with exceptional technical experience in our type of industry.
It indicates a great vote of confidence in CRG and what CRG is seeking to
achieve. To have another board member with direct experience in the South
African gold mining industry will be invaluable."
