CHANGES TO THE BOARDS OF DIRECTORS OF ABSA GROUP LIMITED AND ABSA BANK LIMITED
As detailed in the Notice of Annual General Meeting (AGM) distributed to all
Absa shareholders as part of the Annual Report for the year ended 31 December
2007, Mr Lourens Jonker and Ms Nthobi Angel, who would have retired by rotation
in terms of Absa`s Articles of Association, have not sought re-election at the
AGM held today and their resignations are accordingly effective 22 April 2008.
Lourens has served on the Absa Group and Absa Bank boards (the boards) since
1996, in addition to being a member of the Directors` Affairs Committee. Nthobi
has been a member of the boards since 2004.
Thanking the departing members, Ms Gill Marcus, Chairperson of Absa, said that
they "have been a source of strength and wisdom to Absa".
