CHANGES TO THE NETCARE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ("THE BOARD")
This SENS announcement is issued in terms of Section 3.59(a) of the JSE Listings
Requirements.
The Board is pleased to announce the appointment, with effect from 1 June 2008,
of Mr Jerry Vilakazi, as independent non-executive Chairman. Mr Vilakazi
succeeds Mr Michael (Motty) Sacks who, on 25 January 2008, announced his
intention to retire as Chairman of the Board with effect from 31 March 2008. Mr
Sacks will continue to serve as acting Chairman of the Board until 31 May 2008,
and thereafter as a non-executive director. The Board would like to record its
profound appreciation to Mr Sacks for his loyal and dedicated service as well as
his outstanding leadership and mentorship to Netcare over the past 12 years. He
has made an enormous contribution across all spheres of Netcare`s business and
the Board is grateful that he will continue to impart his wisdom and expertise
as a non-executive director.
Mr Vilakazi holds a BA (Unisa), MA (Thames Valley), MA (London) and MBA
(California Coast University). He is CEO of Business Unity SA. He was MD of the
Black Management Forum in 2004-2005, Public Service Commissioner (1999-2001),
executive director of the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants (2001-2003),
chief director for strategic planning at the Department of Home Affairs (1997-
1998), and deputy director, affirmative action, in the Department of Public
Service and Administration. He co-founded Execuprime, a black-owned training and
consulting company specialising in human resources and organisational
development. Among his directorships are chairman: Mpumalanga Gaming Board, BMF
Investment Company, Computershare and Execuprime. He is married with three sons,
is a published poet and enjoys reading.
The appointment of Mr Vilakazi will enhance the independence of Netcare`s Board
composition and the Board looks forward to Mr Vilakazi`s stewardship and
guidance.
