STUART MURRAY JOINS SIMMERS` BOARD
Gold and uranium miner, Simmer & Jack Mines, Limited (JSE: SIM), is pleased to
announce the appointment of Mr. Stuart Murray, Chief Executive Officer of
Aquarius Platinum, to the Simmers board, effective 13 June 2008.
Nigel Brunette, independent non-executive chairperson of Simmers, said that he
was delighted that Murray had agreed to join the board as a non-executive
independent director.
"Stuart Murray has a proven track record in the mining industry and a reputation
for being a strong, hands-on CEO. He brings with him a wealth of expertise and
is exactly the kind of robust, independent voice that we welcome on the Simmers
board," said Brunette.
Murray, who was born in Zambia and schooled in Scotland, holds a Bachelor of
Science in Chemical Engineering from London University`s Imperial College and is
an associate member of the Institute for Chemical Engineers. Having spent his
entire career in the mining industry, he is credited with transforming Aquarius
from a junior Australian exploration company in 2001 to the fourth largest
primary platinum producer globally with a market cap in excess of R30 billion
and member of the FTSE 250. Murray also chairs the board of Aquarius Platinum
(South Africa) (Pty) Ltd, and Mimosa Mining Company (Pty) Ltd.
