ACCIDENT AT PAMODZI GOLD`S EAST RAND OPERATIONS
The executive and management of Pamodzi Gold Limited (Pamodzi Gold) deeply
regret to announce that an accident occurred at its East Rand operations in
Gauteng, claiming the life of one of its employees.
The accident occurred on Tuesday 25 June, on H 39 raiseline, on number four
shaft. An equipping team leader regretfully died after entering a discontinued
end through a barricade. We are awaiting a post-mortem to determine the cause of
death.
The name of the deceased cannot be released until the next of kin have been
notified.
All raiseline development operations at all the shafts in the East Rand
Operations have been stopped. An audit and risk assessment in conjunction with
the Department of Minerals and Energy, is being undertaken.
"The loss of life at the East Rand operations is unfortunate as we had just
reached 500 000 fatality free shifts, and we were looking forward to reaching
another milestone of one million fatality free shifts. Our priority is ensuring
a safe working environment for all our employees and to this end, will continue
to be an imperative as governed not only by policy, but embedded in the Pamodzi
Gold culture," said Tony Murdoch Eaton, Pamodzi Gold`s chief operating officer.
The executive of Pamodzi Gold and the management of the East Rand
operations express their
heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased and
assure them of Pamodzi Gold`s support during this difficult time.
