Change to the board of directors: Peet Kotze appointed Operations Director
SACMH is pleased to announce the appointment of Peet Kotze as Operations
Director. Peet`s appointment to the board takes effect from 1 August 2008.
Peet will be responsible for the overall mine operations including overseeing
the recently announced infrastructure investment by the company to improve the
cost effectiveness and facilitate the expansion at the Umlabu mine.
Peet has 28 years mining experience. He has held several management positions,
the most recent of which was as General Manager of Norilsk Nickel`s Tati nickel
mine with responsibility for 3,200 employees and 2,100 contractors on site.
Prior to this, Peet was General Manager of Kumba`s Sishen iron ore mine from
2004 to July 2007, overseeing 3,500 mine employees and 1,500 contractors.
Sishen mine is the fifth largest iron ore mine in the world. Peet also has
significant coal mining experience having previously been the Mine Manager at
Kumba`s Leeuwpan coal mine and also the Production Manager at Iscor`s
Grootegeluk coal mine.
Peet has an established and proven track record of prioritising safety at
operations and improving the yield and production of mining operations.
