TRADING STATEMENT
ZCI is currently finalising its results for the year ended 31 March 2008, which
will be released shortly. In this regard, shareholders are advised that headline
earnings per share and earnings per share will be between 60% and 65% lower and
between 65% and 70% lower respectively than those reported for the year ended 31
March 2007.
This decrease is based on the change to the Company`s accounting presentation
provided for in IFRS 5 which was first introduced in the Company`s interim
results for the period ended 30 September 2007, namely that the Company`s
investment in Konkola Copper Mines ("KCM") be reflected in the accounts as a
held-for-sale investment, rather than as an "investment in an associated
company", with the result that save for dividends received, ZCI no longer
includes any income attributable to KCM in its financial statements.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been
reviewed or reported on by the Company`s auditors.
