TRADING STATEMENT
Truworths International Limited (`the Group`) announces that it anticipates
that both basic and headline earnings per share for the 53 week trading period
to 29 June 2008 will be between 15% and 20% higher than those reported for the
52 week corresponding period in 2007.
In a challenging trading environment, group sale of merchandise for the 53 week
period increased to R5 650 million, 16% above the corresponding 52 week period
in 2007. Comparable (same store) retail sales grew by 8% and product inflation
approximated 6% in the 53 week period. Trading space increased by 9% compared to
24 June 2007.
If the effect of the additional week in the current period were to be excluded ,
group sale of merchandise would reflect growth of 14% (6% on a comparable (same
store) basis).
Shareholders are advised that the financial information contained in this
statement has neither been reviewed nor reported on by the external auditors,
and that the group`s audited final results for the period will be announced on
Wednesday 20 August 2008.
