FATALITY AT BUFFELSFONTEIN GOLD MINE
Simmer & Jack Mines, Limited regrets to announce that an accident at its
Buffelsfontein Mine in the North West Province has claimed the life of one
mineworker.
The incident took place at the Number Two shaft in the early hours of Wednesday
14 August 2008 and appears to have been tramming-related. The cause of the
accident is currently under investigation by management as well as
representatives of organized labour and the Department of Minerals and Energy.
Gordon Miller, chief executive of Simmers, said: "We extend our sincere
condolences to the family of the deceased and wish to assure them of the
Company`s support in this difficult time."
