KCM TO COMMENCE BULK SAMPLING OF SHONE KIMBERLITE
AltX listed Kimberley Consolidated Mining Limited (KCM) has announced that the
Department of Minerals and Energy has given the company the go-ahead to commence
bulk sampling of Shone Kimberlite at its Kimberley processing plant. This
follows KCM`s earlier announcement that the results of the analyses of core
samples of the Shone kimberlite pipe which is situated in KCM`s Carter Block
between Kimberley and Postmasburg, are optimistic in terms of diamond bearing
potential.
Speaking from Cape Town, CEO Hein le Riche said today (Wednesday, 20 August)
that a comprehensive sampling protocol and Sample Trail Audit has been designed
by Venmyn for the process and KCM anticipates generating a recovered grade
estimate shortly. "Bulk sampling at our Kimberley processing plant will commence
immediately".
Le Riche reiterated that that the results of the indicator mineral chemistry of
samples of Shone kimberlite are significant. "Venmyn, KCM`s independent
technical advisors, have compared the Shone garnet mineral chemistry with that
of garnets from Premier, Orapa, Mir, Finsch, Koffiefontein, Yagersfontein,
Wesselton and Dutoitspan kimberlites and concluded that the chemistry of the
Shone garnets is, in most cases, superior in terms of diamond potential to the
comparative kimberlites. Furthermore, the recovery of 16 micro diamonds confirms
the presence of diamonds in the Shone kimberlite".
The Carter Block prospecting right borders directly on the De Beer`s Finsch Mine
and hosts three known kimberlite pipes, several kimberlite dykes which appear
physically linked to the Finsch pipe, and two alluvial exploration targets that
may also be genetically derived from the Finsch kimberlite.
KCM is a diamond mining, exploration and development company with kimberlite and
alluvial diamond projects located primarily in the Kimberley and surrounding
regions of South Africa. Apart from KCM`s Carter Block Exploration Project, KCM
also owns the diamond producing Bo-Karoo mine in Northern Cape as well as an
exploration property in the same province at Batloung. In North West Province,
it is bulk sampling a diamondiferous alluvial deposit on the Taung property
which is held in a joint venture. KCM listed on AltX on 27 May 2008.
