TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of the Listing Requirements of the JSE Limited, companies are
required to publish a Trading Statement as soon as they become reasonably
certain that the financial results for the period to be reported on next, will
differ by more than 20% from those of the previous corresponding period.
The board of directors of Hwange advises that its inflation adjusted headline
earnings per share for the six month period ended 30 June 2008 has decreased
by 2 803% on the 17 138 499 220 Zimbabwean cents per share reported for the
six month period ended 30 June 2007 and inflation adjusted earnings per share
decreased by 2771% on the 17 142 526 863 Zimbabwean cents per share reported
for the same period.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not
been reviewed or reported on by Hwange`s auditors.
Hwange`s unaudited results for the period ended 30 June 2008 will be released
on SENS on 30 September 2008.
REASON FOR TRADING STATEMENT AND RESULTS BEING PUBLISHED ON THE SAME DAY
Due to several unforeseen complications encountered when communicating with
Hwange via email and the length of time taken for the information requested to
come from Hwange`s Finance Department due to internal email communication
systems breakdown between Hwange and Harare, the financial information
requested for the trading statement was not received in time for release prior
to publication of Hwange`s interim results. Therefore, the trading statement
and publication of the results will be released on the same day.
