PROGRAMME RELATING TO THE GENERAL REPURCHASE OF SECURITIES DURING A PROHIBITED
PERIOD
Shareholders are advised that, in terms of the company`s general authority to
repurchase its securities and in terms of paragraph 5.72(g) of the Listings
Requirements of the JSE Limited ("JSE"), BSI intends to repurchase its own
shares during a prohibited period (as defined in paragraph 3.67 of the JSE
Listings Requirements) as follows:
Start of prohibited period: 1 October 2008.
Close of prohibited period: On release of the company`s interim
results for the six months ended 30
September 2008 or withdrawal of the
cautionary announcement dated 30
September 2008 ("cautionary
announcement") or release of a
detailed announcement relating to the
cautionary announcement, whichever is
the later.
Quantity of shares to be Maximum of 20 million (i.e. 2.7% of
repurchase: the current shares in issue).
Price range of shares to be Up to a maximum average price of 120
repurchased: cents per share.
Weighted average market 117 cents.

JSE for the five days prior
to 29 September 2008
The repurchase of the shares will be effected through the order book operated by
the JSE trading system and done without any prior understanding or arrangement
between the company and the counter party.
The shares will be repurchased by a subsidiary and held as treasury stock.
