PRESS RELEASE
Dr Aaron Searll, the current chairman and former chief executive officer of the
Seardel group, has retired from the board of the holding company.
Dr Searll established the Seardel group in 1957 with R500. The group was listed
on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 1968. Since its listing the group made a
number of strategic acquisitions and grew both its turnover and profitability
under the stewardship of Dr Searll. In 2001 Seardel acquired 100% of Frame
Group Limited, the biggest textile manufacturer in southern Africa.
The Seardel group`s revenue is nearly R4 billion per annum and the group employs
approximately 15,000 workers.
Dr Searll`s career has been one of achievement.
Dr Searll attended the Business School in Lausanne and was awarded a doctorate
in business administration. He holds a certificate in accountancy from the
University of Witwatersrand. He is also a qualified jet pilot and an honorary
colonel of 35 Squadron SAAF. Dr Searll was also the president of the National
Clothing Federation. In 1982 Dr Searll was selected by the Sunday Times as one
of the top five businessmen of that year.
