RESPONSIBILITY OR CONNECTED PERSONS
Notification made in accordance with Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
The Company was notified on 5 November 2008 that, on 3 November 2008, Mr J P du
Plessis, Chairman of British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the "Company"), acquired
152,836 British American Tobacco p.l.c. ordinary shares (the "Shares") as a
result of a reduction of capital by Reinet Investments S.C.A. (the "Notified
Interest"). The Shares are held by the trustees of a family trust which, for the
purposes of the Notified Interest, are persons connected with Mr du Plessis who
is one of the beneficiaries under that trust.
Following this distribution, Mr du Plessis has a total beneficial and family
interest of 202,836 Shares in the Company.
