The independent Trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trust
notified the Company on 20 November 2008 that it had on 19 November 2008
released 12,419 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the
"Shares") to Mr A.M. Gray, a person discharging managerial responsibilities and
a participant in the British American Tobacco Long Term Incentive Plan.
Following the above transaction, Mr Gray has a total beneficial and family
interest of 27,498 (including 14,659 Deferred Shares).
