RETIREMENT OF A DIRECTOR
In compliance with section 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited,
notification is hereby given that Mr L C (Lex) van Vught will retire as a non-
executive director of AECI, with effect from 31 December 2008.
Lex has had 40 years` involvement with AECI, including five years as its chief
executive from 1998 to 2003. During that period, his leadership in transforming
the Company from an unfocused collection of largely commodity-based businesses
to a specialty product and service solutions entity, was exemplary. AECI`s
Board of directors acknowledges Lex`s contribution in this regard and thanks him
for the value that his insight and experience continued to add as a non-
executive director.
