VUKILE`S GAME SHOPPING CENTRE, OSHAKATI EXTENDED AND RENOVATED
Johannesburg, 3 December 2008 - The Game Shopping Centre in Oshakati, a key
asset in JSE and NSX listed Vukile Property Fund`s Namibian property portfolio,
has been extended by the addition of a brand new modern fashion mall, increasing
the lease area of the centre to more than 23 000m?. The new mall opened its
doors to the public on 27 November 2008.
At the same time the existing building underwent substantial renovations and a
new road was built to create a second access point to one of the busiest
shopping centres in northern Namibia.
The tenants in the new fashion mall include Foschini, Jet Mart, Exact,
Sportscene, Total Sport, Markham and Miladys. Existing tenants include Pick n
Pay, Game, Truworths, Mr Price, Pep Stores, Ackermans and OK Furniture.
Woolworths textiles has also indicated interest in leasing premises in the
centre and negotiations to accommodate them are at an advanced stage.
In total about N$30.0 million was spent on the project, confirming the
confidence of Vukile in the economy of the region.
Vukile, which dual listed on the Namibian Stock Exchange in July 2007, has a
number of other Namibian properties in its portfolio including BPI House in
Windhoek, Katima Mulilo Pep Stores, Katutura Checkers Centre, Ondangwa Shoprite
Checkers, Oshikango Ellerines and Oshakati Beares Furnishers
The professional team involved in the project consisted of Deidre de Waal
Architects, Hendrik Herselman Quantity Surveyors & Project Managers, Lithon
Project Consultants for the engineering services and Sanlam Properties as
project coordinators. Nexus Construction was the main building contractor.
