TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, companies are required
to publish a trading statement as soon as they become aware that the financial
results for the period to be reported upon next would differ by at least 20%
from the previously corresponding period.
Ellies accordingly advises that for the six month interim period ended 31
October 2008 it expects earnings and headline earnings per share to be between
18.5 cents and 19.75 cents per share.
This would translate to an increase in earnings and headline earnings per share
of between 155% and 175% to the previous corresponding period. However, in
preparation for the listing of the company in September 2007, Ellies changed its
year end from 28 February to 30 April. Consequently, the results for the
previous corresponding period are the company`s results for the six month
interim period ending 31 August 2007, which incorporates only four months of
trading from 1 May 2007, when, in accordance with International Financial
Reporting Standards, the company commenced accounting for the businesses
acquired.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been
reviewed or reported on by the company`s auditors. The interim financial results
of the company are expected to be published on or about 20 January 2009.
