NOTIFICATION OF TRANSACTIONS BY DIRECTORS, PERSONS DISCHARGING MANAGERIAL
RESPONSIBILITY OR CONNECTED PERSONS
Notification made in accordance with Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
The Company was notified on 12 December 2008 that, in a series of transactions
during the Reinet rights offer, on or before 5 December 2008, Mr M H Visser, a
Non-Executive Director of British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the "Company"),
exchanged 21,284 ordinary shares in the Company (the "Shares") for Reinet
shares.
Following these transactions Mr Visser`s interests in the Shares of the Company
are as follows:-
(1) 44,762 Shares held in the name of Mr Visser;
(2) 162,922 Shares held in the name of The Remgro Share Trust in which Mr
Visser has a beneficial interest as a member of The Remgro Share Scheme;
and
(3) 389,782 Shares held by the trustees of family trusts which, for the
purposes of this notification, are persons connected with Mr Visser who is
one of the beneficiaries under those trusts.
Following these transactions, Mr Visser has a total beneficial and family
interest of 597,466 Shares in the Company.
