Resignation of director
Notification is hereby given in accordance with the JSE Limited Listings
Requirements (par. 3.59(b)), that Wilmot James has resigned as non-executive
director from the Boards of Sanlam Limited and Sanlam Life Insurance Limited
with effect from 26 January 2009. He has informed the Sanlam Board that due to
his intention to become involved in party politics and his resulting
electioneering activities, it has become necessary for him to step down from all
the Sanlam non-executive directorships he currently holds. The Sanlam Board
wishes to thank Wilmot for his contributions to the Group since his appointment
to the Sanlam Board during 2004 and bid him well in all his future endeavours.
His counsel will be missed.
