DECLARED DIVIDEND ANNOUNCEMENT ON BHP BILLITON PLC ENHANCED DIVIDEND SECURITIES

With reference to the dividend announcement, the Directors of BHP Billiton plc
have declared an interim dividend of 41.0 US cents per ordinary share payable on
17 March 2009 to ordinary shareholders, recorded in the books of the company at
the close of business on 27 February 2009.
The currency exchange rate applicable for the dividend is 10.192345.
Accordingly, the warrant holders of the Enhanced Dividend Securities, BILIDF,
will receive a BHP Billiton plc dividend of 417.886145 South African cents per
security on 17 March 2009 in terms of the Cession clause incorporated in the
Supplement between the holders and Investec Bank Limited. The last day to
trade ("cum" the dividend) in order to participate in the dividend will be 20
February 2009.
BILIDF Enhanced Dividend Securities will commence trading "ex" the dividend from
the commencement of business on 23 February 2009, and the record date will be 27
February 2009
