The Company announces that it was notified on 15 February 2009 that BoE Private
Clients ("BoE"), acting on behalf of Mr Fred Phaswana, a non-executive director
of the Company, sold 3,591 Anglo American plc ordinary shares of US$0.54945 each
(the "Shares") on 5 March 2008. In addition, BoE acquired on Mr Phaswana`s
behalf, eight Shares through the Company`s dividend reinvestment programme on 30
September 2008.
The notification of these transactions satisfies the Company`s obligations under
the Financial Services Authority Disclosure Rules 3.1.2 to 3.1.4
