APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD
In compliance with section 3.59(a) of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Limited, notice is hereby given that Mr Michael Meehan has been appointed as an
independent non-executive director and Mr Christo Klopper has been appointed an
executive director of the company with immediate effect.
Michael completed his articles and practiced as a Chartered Accountant in Durban
before commencing a 23-year career in shipping and ship owning with the Grindrod
Group, where he served as a main board director, as Chief Executive Officer of
Unicorn Shipping and Chief Executive Officer of the listed Griffin Shipping
Holdings. He subsequently co-founded and listed Trematon Capital Investments.
He has filled the roles of President of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and
President of the South African Ship Owners Association. He now operates in the
property, investment, venture capital and business consultancy fields in Durban.
Michael also serves on the boards of a.b.e Construction Chemicals Limited, Rare
Holdings Limited and William Tell Holdings Limited as a non-executive director.
Christo has been involved in the micro lending industry since 1995 and
originally started his micro lending career as a branch manager with Unity
Financial Services (one of the 3 companies which merged to form African Bank in
1997) and was appointed as group operations manager of African Bank in 2000.
Christo also worked for Capitec and Kagisano (Credit U) before joining Blue
during 2006 as manager of the SA operations. Christo is currently responsible
for Blue`s sales and operations in all the countries where Blue has a presence.
The board welcomes Michael to the company and believes that Michael will add
tremendous value to the board`s strategic and independent thinking. The board
similarly wish to extend their congratulations and best wishes to Christo with
his appointment and the concomitant challenges it will bring.
