PPC announces two non-executive director appointments
In compliance with the Listing Requirements of the JSE Limited, the Board of
Pretoria Portland Cement Company Limited ("PPC") is pleased to announce the
appointment of:
Mr.JS (Jerry) Vilakzi and Mr. MP (Peter) Malungani, as non-executive
directors with effect from 27 February 2009. Both Jerry and Peter were
elected by our consortium of strategic black partners to be their
representatives on the PPC Board.
Jerry Vilakazi is a key shareholder in one of our black partners, the
Capital Edge Cement Consortium. He is CEO of Business Unity South Africa
(BUSA) and also serves as non-executive chairman of Netcare Ltd. Jerry
brings with him many years of experience in his previous roles with the
Black Management Forum (BMF) and as past Executive Director of the SA
Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Peter Malungani is founder and Executive Chairman of the PEU Group, one of
our black partners. He is Chairman of Phumelela Gaming & Leisure, Super
Group Limited and also serves on the Board of a number of Investec Limited
Companies. Through his leadership of the PEU Group he has pioneered many
construction and civil engineering projects in South Africa and brings with
him years of industry-specific expertise.
In welcoming them to the board, Mr Bheki Sibiya, Chairman of PPC commented:
"I see these appointments adding to the momentum built up around PPC`s
transformation initiatives and BBBEE transaction announced in August last
year. Both Jerry and Peter have valuable industry experience, skills and
