TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, companies are required
to publish a trading statement as soon as they are satisfied that a reasonable
degree of certainty exists that the financial results for the period to be
reported on will differ by at least 20% or more from the financial results for
the previous corresponding period.
RBA is currently finalising its results for the year ended 31 December 2008 and
shareholders are advised that the following effects on earnings per share and
headline earnings per share is anticipated:
- Earnings per share are expected to be between 30% and 50% below those of
the previous corresponding period;
- Headline earnings per share are expected to be between 20% and 40% below
those of the previous corresponding period; and
- Headline earnings per share taking into account the effect of the JSE
circular 08/07 in terms of which all amounts and adjustments relating to items
of investment properties are to be excluded from headline earnings, are expected
to be between 70% and 90% below those of the previous corresponding period.
The above decline is mainly as a result of economic conditions putting pressure
on banks and financial institutions ability to finance our clients through
traditional home loans, resulting in a reduction in revenue and delays in
commencing with construction at certain of our developments.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been
reviewed or reported on by the company`s auditors.
The company`s results are expected to be released on SENS before 31 March 2009.
