TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, companies are required to
publish a trading statement as soon as they are reasonably certain that their
financial results for the current reporting period will differ from the previous
corresponding period by more than 20%.
Continuing operations
In the continuing operations the loss per share reduced by between 5% and 15%
and the headline loss per share reduced by between 10% and 20% for the year
ended 31 December 2008 compared with the year ended 31 December 2007.
Discontinued operations
Earnings per share from discontinued operations decreased by between 100% and
110% and the headline loss per share reduced by between 45% and 55% for year
under review compared with the previous year.
Total operations
In total (both continuing and discontinued operations), compared with the year
ended 31 December 2007, earnings per share decreased by between 110% and 120%
and the headline loss per share reduced by between 20% and 30% for the year
ended 31 December 2008.
Control Instruments` continuing operations are focused on the international
automotive original equipment manufacture ("OEM") market, and the sub-Saharan
automotive aftermarket.
Control Instruments` results for the year ended 31 December 2008 will be
released on SENS on or about 30 March 2009.
