APPOINTMENT OF GROUP LEGAL COUNSEL AND COMPANY SECRETARY
David Janks has been appointed group legal counsel and company secretary of New
Clicks with effect from 1 July 2009. His appointment follows the retirement of
Allan Scott as company secretary with effect from 31 March 2009.
Mr Janks has extensive experience in commercial and corporate law and is
currently a director of leading law firm Routledge Modise.
New Clicks chief executive officer, David Kneale, said owing to the increasing
regulatory and governance requirements facing companies, management had taken a
decision to build legal capacity within the group and to combine the roles of
company secretary and group legal counsel.
"David Janks has widespread expertise in the legal field and his background in
commercial and corporate law makes him the ideal candidate for this new
position. He also has specialist legal knowledge of the healthcare sector in
South Africa and the complex regulatory environment in which we operate. His
appointment will therefore enhance our ability to entrench the leadership
position of Clicks and UPD in pharmacy management and healthcare supply."
Annalize Booysen, the group tax manager of New Clicks, will serve as the group`s
company secretary on an interim basis until Mr Janks takes office on 1 July. Ms
Booysen is currently the public officer for the group`s companies.
