APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The board of directors of Sanyati have pleasure in announcing the appointment of
Rick Jackson as Executive Chairman and Malcolm Lobban as Chief Executive Officer
of the Company with effect from 1 May 2009. The defined split in the roles is in
accordance with Sanyati`s application of good corporate governance and in
accordance with the King Code.
Malcolm, a qualified CA, has operated at executive level in leading South
African organisations such as Murray & Roberts and Nedbank. He joined Murray &
Roberts in 1992 and was appointed as Executive Director in 1998 where he was
involved in a number of successful turnarounds, sale negotiations, black
empowerment transactions and refinancing deals with financial services
institutions. After a brief spell at PSG Investment Bank, Alacrity Financial
Services and Imperial Group, he established his own financial services business.
His decision to take on this new challenge within the construction industry
aligns his expertise and experience with the objectives Sanyati have set out to
achieve.
Rick, the founding member of Sanyati 21 years ago, will provide Malcolm with the
necessary support and assistance to develop the future strategic direction of
Sanyati. Rick will retain the role of Executive Chairman for a period of time,
to ensure continuity and a smooth transition of both roles. Thereafter, he
will assume the role of Non-Executive Chairman.
Rick Jackson, together with the board, is delighted to welcome Malcolm into the
Sanyati fold.
