APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, FINANCIAL DIRECTOR and AN ADDITIONAL
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Board of Directors of Astral Foods has pleasure in announcing the
appointment of Christiaan Ernst Schutte (Chris Schutte) as Chief Executive
Officer, effective 1 May 2009, following the recent resignation of Nick Wentzel.
Chris Schutte joined Astral Foods in 2002 and has been Managing Director of the
Animal Nutrition Division since July 2004. Chris is well entrenched at Astral
Foods and has served as an Executive Director on the Board of Astral Foods for
the past 5 years.
The Board also wishes to announce the appointment of Daniel Dirk Ferreira (Daan)
as Financial Director of Astral Foods effective 1 May 2009. Daan, a qualified
Chartered Accountant, has many years of experience in Financial Accounting,
first at ICS Group (13 years) and later at Genfood (2 years). At ICS Group he
was the Group Financial Manager before the acquisition of ICS by Tiger Brands.
Apart from being responsible for that Group`s statutory and management
reporting, he was involved in various mergers and acquisitions. He joined Astral
Foods in February 2001 as Group Financial Manager.
Dr Obed Mooki Lukhele (Dr Lukhele) is being appointed as Group Director:
Veterinary Services with effect from 1 May 2009. Dr Lukhele has a BVMCh degree
and BSc(Hons)(Entomology) degree. Dr Lukhele started his working career at
Virbac Animal Health in 2000 as a Poultry Technical Manager until mid 2002.
Thereafter, he held an Export Managerial position at Pfizer Animal Health for 4
years responsible for various sub-Saharan African countries. He joined Astral
Operations Limited beginning of May 2007. Dr Lukhele has co-authored three
scientific papers published in international journals in the fields of
entomology, veterinary anatomy and bovine infectious diseases. The Board is
delighted to welcome Dr Lukhele as an Executive Director.
