TRADING STATEMENT AND WITHDRAWAL OF CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, companies are required
to publish a trading statement as soon as they are satisfied that a reasonable
degree of certainty exists that the financial results for the period to be
reported on will differ by at least 20% or more from the financial results for
the previous corresponding period.
Placecol is currently finalising its results for the year ended 28 February 2009
and shareholders are advised that the directors expect a loss per share of
between 4.3 cents and 5.2 cents and a headline loss per share of between 3.4
cents and 4.2 cents, compared to earnings per share and headline earnings per
share of 5.7 and 4.9 cents, respectively, reported for the year ended 29
February 2008. The reduction in earnings is mainly as a result of once-off
restructuring costs which were incurred during the second half of the 2009
financial year and costs incurred as a result of the launch of a new brand.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been
reviewed or reported on by the company`s auditors.
The company`s results for the year ended 28 February 2009 are expected to be
released on SENS on or before 29 May 2009.
WITHDRAWAL OF CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Having regard to the information set out above, the cautionary announcement
dated 6 April 2009 is hereby withdrawn.
