RESIGNATION OF FINANCIAL DIRECTOR AND APPOINTMENT OF SUCCESSOR
The board of directors of Business Connexion announces the resignation of
Marius Schoeman from the position of chief financial officer and executive
director.
Schoeman will remain with the group in the role of operational executive -
assuming responsibility for managing key strategic clients - but relinquishes
his seat on the board, effective 1 August 2009.
Vanessa Olver has been appointed to succeed Schoeman as financial director and
chief financial officer, effective 1 August 2009.
Olver (35) was previously finance director of Standard Bank Africa, a position
she held since 2006. She has also held positions in listed companies and
accounting firms in both the USA and UK.
Business Connexion chairman, Tony Ruiters comments: "Following an extensive
search process where the board considered both internal and external
candidates, and taking into account the scope of the group`s revitalisation
programme, we are pleased to appoint a person with Vanessa`s skills to this
key position and to the Business Connexion board."
Chief executive, Benjamin Mophatlane, comments: "Marius Schoeman has for some
time wanted to assume an operational role, similar to the position he held
prior to his appointment as chief financial officer. We are delighted to be
able to appoint a successor of this calibre and experience.
"I want to welcome Vanessa to the group and at the same time thank Marius for
his contribution as financial director."
Background information on Vanessa Olver:
Olver has a B Comm and a Higher Diploma in Accounting from Rhodes University
and a Higher Diploma in Taxation from the University of South Africa. Her
professional qualifications include: Chartered Accountant (South Africa);
Certified Public Accountant (USA); and Fellow of the Life Management Institute
Programme (USA). Olver worked for Deloitte in Durban and Chicago and held
financial management positions with P&O Nedloyd and Aviva plc (formerly CGNU
plc) in London. On her return to South Africa she joined Standard Bank as
senior manager: group financial accounting and reporting before being promoted
to her position as finance director for Standard Bank Africa.
