The Company was notified on 7 July 2009 that on 6 July 2009 Mr N R Withington,
a person discharging managerial responsibility, acquired 252 ordinary shares
of 25p each in British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the "Shares") at a price of
1714.32 pence per Share as a result of the reinvestment of income by his ISA
Manager.
Following this transaction, Mr Withington has a total beneficial and family
interest in 100,767 Shares (including 34,388 Deferred Shares).
