It was confirmed to the Company on 15 July 2009 by the nominee holder of the
shares in which Mr Jimmi Rembiszewski, a person discharging managerial
responsibility, is deemed to have an interest for the purpose of this
announcement, that his interest had increased by 2,539 ordinary shares of 25p
each in British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the "Shares") arising from the purchase
of Shares through the Company`s Dividend Reinvestment Plan. The Shares were
purchased on 6 May 2009 at a price of GBP16.3198 per Share.
Following this transaction and a clarification of Mr Rembiszewski`s interests in
the Shares, his current reported interest is 156,756 Shares (including 49,630
Deferred Shares).
