Change to the board of directors
In compliance with section 3.59 of the JSE Limited`s Listings Requirements,
shareholders are advised that Dr HA Serebro, the Senior Altron Group Executive
Director, in the office of the Chairman, has retired from the board of the
company with effect from 1 August 2009.
Dr Serebro was appointed to the Altron board in 1994 and aside from acting as
the Chairman of the Altron Group Purchasing and Export Councils, which he
established between 1987 and 1989, served as a non-executive director on many of
the subsidiary company boards including Altech, Bytes (formerly Fintech) and
Powertech. Dr Serebro played a meaningful role in building the Altron group
into the leadership position that it holds today and the board will miss his
contribution to its growth, as well as his entrepreneurial skill that increased
the profitability of Altron over the past 25 years.
In addition to holding multiple medical degrees, Dr Serebro was awarded an
honorary doctorate from the University of the Free State in 2003, received the
South African State President`s Export Award for and on behalf of Altron in 1994
and is currently a trustee of the State President`s Empowerment Award Programme
and of the Sexwale Family Foundation. He was also awarded Altron`s highest
honour, the Chairman`s D.M.A (Distinguished Merit Award) in 1994.
Dr Serebro has agreed to assist the Altron group on special projects, whenever
required by Altron in the future.
