FATALITY AT FIRST URANIUM`S EZULWINI MINE
Toronto and Johannesburg - First Uranium Corporation (TSX:FIU, JSE:FUM)
(ISIN:CA33744R1029) ("First Uranium" or "the Company") regrets to announce that
an incident at the Ezulwini Mine in Gauteng Province, South Africa, has claimed
the life of one mineworker. The incident took place on the afternoon of
Thursday 17 September 2009 on the mine`s 45 level along the Middle Elsburg Reef.
The mineworker`s family has been contacted and his coworkers have been notified.
Gordon Miller, President and Chief Executive Officer of First Uranium, said:
"The Company views this incident in an extremely serious light and is reviewing
the situation with representatives of South Africa`s Department of Mining and
Minerals and organized labour. We extend our sincere condolences to the family
and friends of the deceased and assure them of our support during this difficult
time."
